The event was attended by H.E. Major General Staff Hany Rashad Ali, Governor of Suez; Major General Staff Dr. Samir Farag, renowned strategic expert; Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heneigal, President of Suez University; the University’s Vice Presidents; deans of faculties; faculty members; administrative staff; and a large number of students from Suez University and Suez National University, in addition to a number of popular, security, and executive leaders in the governorate.

At the beginning of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heneigal, President of Suez University, welcomed the distinguished guests, emphasizing that the city of Suez will remain an enduring national symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and the unwavering Egyptian will that knows no defeat. He noted that the University is keen to commemorate national occasions in order to instill values of belonging and national awareness among young people.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Heneigal stressed that commemorating the October Victories is not merely an opportunity to recall great historical events, but also an occasion to renew our commitment to the values that made victory possible: faith in the homeland, determination, hard work, and sacrifice. He noted that Suez was and will remain a unique model of resilience and self-sacrifice, given the immense sacrifices made by its people in defense of the nation.

He also extended his greetings to H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, as well as to the brave men and women of the Armed Forces on the anniversary of their great victory. He emphasized that Egypt’s current process of development and nation-building draws inspiration from the spirit of October and its deeply rooted national values.

The University President further stressed that contemporary challenges are no longer confined to military confrontations, but also include information warfare, rumors, and attempts to undermine the stability of societies. He emphasized that awareness, knowledge, and national belonging constitute the first line of defense against such challenges.

Addressing the University’s students directly, he called on them to emulate the spirit of the October heroes and the Suez resistance fighters, explaining that heroism is not limited to battlefields, but is also manifested in the fields of education, work, research, and production. He affirmed that the greatest tribute to the martyrs is to preserve the homeland and contribute to its development and progress, stressing that knowledge, awareness, and dedication are the tools of the new generation in continuing the process of development and shaping the future.

Major General Staff Dr. Samir Farag then delivered a lecture on the glorious October War, reviewing the historical stages that preceded the great October victory. He discussed the repercussions of the June 1967 setback and the major challenges it created for the Egyptian state and armed forces. He explained how the Egyptian people and Armed Forces overcame the consequences of the setback through careful preparation and the rebuilding of the Armed Forces on strong scientific and military foundations.

He also discussed the War of Attrition as one of the most important stages in preparing for the battle of liberation, highlighting the heroism and sacrifices of Egyptian soldiers during that period. Among the most notable operations was the sinking of the Israeli destroyer Eilat, which demonstrated the Egyptian Armed Forces’ ability to restore confidence and achieve significant military successes.

Major General Farag reviewed the elements of strategic planning that preceded the October War, foremost among them the strategic deception plan, which successfully misled the enemy and concealed the actual date of the attack. He also highlighted Egyptian military innovation in overcoming the heavily fortified Bar Lev Line through the use of high-pressure water hoses to breach the earthen embankment, an achievement regarded as one of the most notable engineering and military accomplishments in the history of modern warfare.

He emphasized that the October Victory was not merely a military triumph, but a major turning point that restored Egypt’s national dignity and paved the way for the recovery of its territory and the achievement of peace from a position of strength. He also praised the determination and perseverance demonstrated by the heroes of the Armed Forces and the Egyptian people during that period.

At the conclusion of his lecture, Major General Farag addressed young people, stressing the importance of cultivating national awareness, verifying information through reliable sources, and avoiding rumors and falsehoods aimed at destabilizing society or distorting the country’s achievements. He emphasized that awareness constitutes the first line of defense in confronting contemporary challenges.
