Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heneigal, President of Suez University, extended his sincere congratulations to the Suez University community on the university’s inclusion in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, where it was placed in the 1,201–1,400 global ranking band. This achievement reflects the university’s continued presence in one of the world’s most prominent university rankings and highlights its ongoing efforts to advance the quality of education and scientific research, serve the community, and strengthen its competitiveness at both the regional and international levels.
This year’s result comes amid significant developments in the ranking itself. The number of universities ranked globally increased from 2,191 universities in 2026 to 2,297 universities in 2027, while the number of participating countries and territories increased from 115 to 118. The 2027 edition also introduced more detailed ranking bands. In addition, the distribution of Egyptian universities changed from five ranking bands in 2026 to seven bands in 2027. Therefore, interpreting the result requires consideration not only of the ranking band but also of the university’s detailed performance indicators and the changes introduced to the ranking methodology.
In this context, Prof. Dr. Heneigal emphasized that Suez University has several strengths clearly reflected in its ranking results. The university achieved 65.7 points in the Research Quality indicator, one of its strong areas of performance. It also achieved 25.4 points in the Industry indicator, reflecting the university’s role in serving the industrial and economic sectors, particularly given the strategic location of Suez Governorate and its diverse industrial, petroleum, and mining base.
The President of Suez University also noted that the university has improved in several indicators compared with the previous year. The Teaching indicator increased from 17.7 to 18.8, while the Research Environment indicator increased from 10.5 to 11.5. These improvements reflect the university’s continued efforts to develop its educational and research environment. At the same time, maintaining the quality of scientific research and strengthening links with industry remain among the university’s key areas of strength on which further progress can be built in the coming period.
Suez University was placed in the 1,201–1,400 global ranking band, alongside a number of Egyptian universities, including Assiut University, Benha University, Beni-Suef University, Damietta University, Fayoum University, Horus University, New Valley University, October 6 University, and Suez Canal University. This group provides an important framework for comparison and for learning from different institutional experiences and practices, helping the university identify areas for development and maximize its existing strengths.
On this occasion, the President of Suez University expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Sherif Fahmy, Acting Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, for his continued work on institutional development and international rankings. He also extended his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Adel Amer, Director of the International Ranking Unit, and the unit’s members for their continuous efforts in collecting and analyzing data, monitoring international ranking indicators, highlighting the university’s achievements, and coordinating with the various sectors and faculties of the university.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heneigal, President of Suez University, also expressed his thanks and appreciation to all faculty members, teaching assistants, researchers, administrative staff, and students, emphasizing that every advancement achieved by Suez University in international rankings is the result of collective effort and genuine integration among the university’s various sectors.
