Under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Hany Rashad Ali, Governor of Suez, and Prof. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, the activities of the First Environmental Day were officially launched as part of the initiative "Our Suez Is More Beautiful with Us", aimed at improving and beautifying the governorate's districts. The initiative comes in implementation of the resolutions adopted during the latest meeting of the Suez University Council, which emphasized the pivotal role of university students in community service and their active engagement in developmental initiatives, reflecting a distinguished model of cooperation and integration between the academic institution and the executive authorities.
The event was led by His Excellency the Governor of Suez and the President of Suez University, in the presence of Prof. Ezz El-Din Hosseini Gad, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Allam, Deputy Governor of Suez; and Prof. Osama Kaddour, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The initiative witnessed broad student participation, with approximately 230 male and female students representing various faculties of the university. The largest contingent came from the Faculty of Sport Sciences, led by Prof. Wael Kandil, Dean of the Faculty, accompanied by members of the assisting staff. Participants also included members of the University's Scout and Public Service Movement and the For the Love of Egypt student family.
The students were organized into work shifts covering the governorate's five districts—Ataqah, Suez, Arbaeen, El-Ganayen, and Faisal—where they carried out extensive environmental activities, including waste collection, curb painting, and the beautification of public parks in cooperation with the executive authorities of each district. During a field visit to Ataqah District, the Governor and the University President closely inspected the beautification efforts and officially inaugurated the initiative by joining students in planting trees and painting sidewalks.
During the event, Prof. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, issued immediate directives to the Community Service Sector, assigning the University's Department of Art Education to develop a comprehensive aesthetic vision for the redesign and beautification of Adly Mansour Square in Ataqah District and Fish Square in Faisal District.
On this occasion, Prof. Ashraf Heniegal stated that what was witnessed today represents the true embodiment of the vision agreed upon during the most recent meeting of the Suez University Council, held in the presence of His Excellency Major General Hany Rashad Ali. He affirmed that the students of Suez University have proven themselves to be a driving force for development within the governorate, emphasizing that the university's mission extends beyond providing distinguished academic education to preparing responsible citizens who actively contribute to the development of their communities.
Prof. Heniegal further stressed that students' direct participation in beautifying the streets and neighborhoods of Suez strengthens their sense of social responsibility and national belonging. He reaffirmed the university's commitment to expanding opportunities for student engagement through close cooperation with the Suez Governorate, ensuring that Suez University students remain a dynamic force behind the sustainable development of the Bride of the Red Sea.
