Launch of the round table For employers about the skills of graduates required in the labor market

It was under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Atta, SU Acting President, and the attendance of Prof. Dr. Said Hamid Abadi, the SU Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, several deans of the university faculties, Dr. Sayed Abdou, a senator and chairman of the Suez Hills School Board of Directors, a group of heads and delegates of companies and bank managers, directors of analytics laboratories, and business owners from Suez governorate.

The attendance from the Professional Development Center Authority were M. Maha Fakhry, Executive Director of the University Centers Project, Eng. Dina Al-Johari, Deputy Executive Director of the University Centers Project M. Marina Brsoum, Coordinator of the SU Center for Professional Development.

Prof. Dr. Ali Hussein Atta, SU Acting President, inaugurated the events of the round table for employers about the skills of graduates required in the labor market, which is organized by the SU Center for Professional Development. He also welcomed the attendance by reviewing the potential of the university, which includes 16 faculties and institutes. The study is carried out by various faculties in the system of credit hours that are confirmed by the directions of the Egyptian state in accordance with the latest international trends.

The SU President explained that the academic regulations on which Suez University relies are one of the most recent and include a series of specialized academic courses, as well as optional courses that can add connections to courses containing the skills required to develop their abilities and the potential of students to qualify them for the demands of the labor market.

This was followed by a speech by M. Maha Fakhri, Executive Director of the University Centers Project, who explained that the idea of the Professional Development Center started in 2012 at Ain Shams University and then started spreading until 25 centers were opened in various universities, aiming to develop the skills and abilities of students in a manner that best qualifies them to meet the demands of the labor market and has the productive capacity suitable for the progress of society, as well as bridging the gap between the labor market and academic study at the University.

Then Dr. Joseph Samir Wahib, the center's recruitment officer, reviewed what the center has been able to offer in less than a year since its opening. He explained that the center has been able to offer training courses to more than 2,000 students and has signed 5 cooperation protocols with many companies and institutions.

The audience exchanged talks and views to reflect the vision of employers and companies, moderated by Dr. Ahmed Abulhasan, Director of the Center, who said at the end of the session that the usefulness of the round-table idea is great because it is a great opportunity to bring together both parties of the recruitment and qualification process, namely university professors, scientific and academic qualification officials, and labor market officials from corporate and institutional representatives, thanking SU President for his continued support to the Centre.

The American University of Cairo, with the assistance and support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and with the participation of Suez University, has established the University's Vocational Development Center, which aims to help bridge the gap between university education outcomes and labor market needs by developing job skills for students and graduates.
