SU President welcomes World Bank delegation to visit the Faculty of Fish Resources

In his office, Prof. Dr. Ali Hussain Atta, the SU President met this morning the World Bank delegation headed by Mr. Ramachandra, the Head of the Environmental Economics Team, M. Hanan Mahmoud Al-Hadri, the Environmental, Natural Resources, and Blue Economy Management Officer, World Bank, as well as Mr. Ibrahim Saira, on behalf of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nasr, the Regional Director of the International Fish Center. It was attended by Prof. Dr. Osama Ahmed Kaddour, the Dean of the Faculty of Fish Resources and Undersecretaries of the faculty.

The SU President discussed the cooperation between the University and the Bank and discussed the Bank's role in supporting various projects. Atta stated that this visit of Bank members comes within the framework of cooperation between the Bank and the Ministries of International Cooperation and the Environment to identify the impact of climate changes on Egypt's fisheries and the possibility of providing support to address the risks of these climate changes.

The delegation then went to the Faculty of Fish Resources with the Dean of the Faculty, Undersecretaries, and Staff, where Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hamza Hassan, the Head of Water Environment, made a presentation to review the climate changes and their repercussions on the water environment aimed at:

  1. Analysis of the impact of climate changes on fishing, fisheries, and aquaculture in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
  2. To assess the vulnerability of communities dependent on natural fisheries and aquaculture and their vulnerability to climate change.
  3. Identify adaptive planning measures to respond to the impacts of climate change on natural fisheries and aquaculture.

The delegation then visited the halls and laboratories of the faculty to learn about its different possibilities. The attendees expressed their deep appreciation for the studies presented on the impact of climate change on Egypt's fishing and fisheries resources. They emphasized their pleasure at the level of the factories and the potential of the faculty.
