As part of Suez University’s commitment to supporting innovation and applied scientific research, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of the University, conducted a field visit this morning to inspect a graduation project developed by students of the Renewable Energy Technology Program at the Faculty of Technology and Education. The project involves the design and implementation of a smart hybrid electric vehicle powered by both solar energy and electricity.
The visit was attended by Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Attia, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Saad Agwa, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Saad Awad Mohamed, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Coordinator of the Renewable Energy Technology Program, and the project’s principal supervisor; as well as Eng. Mohamed Samir Zayed, Assistant Lecturer in the department.
The University President listened to a detailed presentation on the project’s development stages and innovative features. The project received funding from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology through the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center Alliance at Ain Shams University for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal emphasized that this achievement reflects the University’s commitment to promoting applied education and connecting academic knowledge with practical solutions that serve society and support the green transition. He stressed that the University places great importance on student projects that provide real solutions to environmental and developmental challenges while contributing to the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030.
The Dean of the Faculty explained that the vehicle features:
High-efficiency solar panels for energy generation.
An intelligent MPPT charge controller to maximize solar energy utilization.
Long-life and safe LiFePO4 batteries.
A Battery Management System (BMS) for protection and smart monitoring.
A high-efficiency electric motor with an intelligent electronic control unit.
A digital display screen for real-time operational data monitoring.
A health monitoring system capable of measuring blood pressure, body temperature, and heart rate.
A driving range exceeding 50 kilometers on a single electric charge and more than 100 kilometers using solar power under suitable operating conditions.
Suitability for transportation within university campuses, medical complexes, tourist resorts, sports clubs, and smart cities.
The University President stated that the project represents a pioneering model of applied education and embodies the University’s vision of supporting student innovation and transforming scientific ideas into practical solutions that serve society and advance sustainable development goals. He praised the efforts of both the students and supervisors in achieving this distinguished accomplishment.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Attia affirmed that the Faculty of Technology and Education consistently strives to transform academic knowledge into practical applications that serve society and keep pace with global developments in renewable energy and modern technology. He noted that the project reflects the creativity and innovative capabilities of the Faculty’s students and demonstrates that graduation projects are no longer merely academic requirements but have become genuine platforms for launching pioneering ideas that can be further developed and commercialized to serve industry and society.
