Suez University is an Egyptian government university, based in Suez Governorate, whose philosophy of creation was to be distinct from the rest of the Egyptian universities. It is a society-oriented university that serves a precious area of the land of Egypt. Suez University was a branch of Suez Canal University, until its independence in 2012 by a republican decision.

The number of faculties and their programs has been doubled for 16 faculties and institutes are as follows:

The Faculty of Petroleum and Mining Engineering was established in 1961. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Issam Ahmed Ali.

The Faculty of Education was established in 1981. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Ihab Shehata.

The Faculty of Technology and Education (TEC) was established in 1995. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Hussam al-Din Mustafa Attiya.

The Faculty of Commerce was established in 1997.

The Faculty of Science was established in 2007. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Sherif Mohammed Fahmi.

The Faculty of Fish Resources was established in 2009. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Osama Ahmed Kaddour.

The Faculty of Arts was established in 2014. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mazen Jalal.

The Faculty of Computer and Information was established in 2017. The Dean of Faculty Prof. Dr. Yasser Amon.
