The Suez University Council convened this morning under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of the University, in the presence of H.E. Major General Staff Officer Hany Rashad Ali, Governor of Suez, along with the university vice presidents, deans of faculties, and council members.
At the outset of the meeting, the University President welcomed the Governor and extended his congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing him continued success in serving the nation.
The University President then highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Supreme Council of Universities, led by Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, in implementing the directives of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding aligning academic programs with labor market needs. He explained that the university is working to harmonize its academic specializations with labor market demands in order to provide suitable employment opportunities for graduates and bridge the gap between educational outcomes and the needs of various economic sectors.
He also affirmed that a set of measures will be adopted to rationalize energy consumption, including enhancing the use of energy-efficient lighting systems and implementing prudent operational policies within university buildings. This comes in line with the state’s direction amid ongoing regional developments and reflects the university’s role in supporting environmental sustainability.
For his part, H.E. Governor Major General Hany Rashad Ali pointed out that the labor market is undergoing a fundamental transformation from traditional patterns to jobs based on technology and innovation. He called for a shift away from a culture that relies solely on academic degrees, urging instead the integration of education with real labor market requirements. He also stressed the importance of reverse thinking—starting with analyzing market needs first, then aligning academic disciplines accordingly—to ensure the preparation of a generation capable of competing in light of global changes.
During the session, the Council reviewed the university’s أبرز activities over the past month and the achievements accomplished at the level of faculties and research centers, in addition to discussing future plans to enhance the university’s role in serving the local community.
The Council also continued discussions on various agenda items across the university’s sectors, including education and student affairs, postgraduate studies and research, community service and environmental development, as well as matters related to faculty members and their assistants, all within the framework of improving academic and administrative performance to achieve the university’s mission and objectives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between the university and the governorate across various fields, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development in Suez Governorate.
