This morning, Prof. Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Sharkawi, the SU President, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Shinawy, the President of Jalala University, signed a cooperation protocol between the two universities for academic cooperation in the implementation of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which is based on seven axes: integration, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, entrepreneurship, innovation, and overlapping disciplines.

As well, Al-Sharkawi pointed out this protocol is an extension of the alliance protocol between the universities of the Canal region and Sinai. This was conducted under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research last week at the University of the Suez Canal between 13 governmental, national, technological, and private universities, which aims to employ the potential of academic institutions to meet the various developmental challenges of the Canal and Sinai region.

Furthermore, the SU President explained that the current protocol with Jalala University aims to develop comprehensive cooperation in academic fields of joint interest in the fields of exchange of staff members and associated staff, exchanges of experts and specialists in various fields to benefit from the bachelor's and faculties studies stages of both universities. Also, this protocol aims to cooperate in the conduct of joint research projects and educational development projects between the two sides, as well as the implementation of training programs and courses between both universities.

Moreover, Al-Sharkawi explained that this cooperation will contribute significantly to the development of the educational and research system between the two universities. In addition, he stressed the importance of concluding such protocols to enhance cooperation and integration between universities, as well as linking the objectives of university institutions to the state plan to achieve the sustainable development goals of "Egypt Vision 2030". He also added that protocol strengthens academic and training cooperation between Suez Universities and Jalala University; To meet the needs of both institutions for development, service to young graduates, promote a sustainable exchange of experience and knowledge, and develop joint programs and projects that contribute to the promotion of innovation, technological development, and economic growth.

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, El-Shinawy accompanied the SU delegation; the SU President, Prof. Dr. Hani Shalaby, the Dean of the SU Faculty of Dentistry, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Tahan, the Dean of the SU Faculty of Medicine. They were accompanied on an inspection tour of some faculties (Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Applied Arts) to view the various faculties’ laboratories and possibilities of the University, as well as to inspect some facilities such as university student accommodation. The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the University of Jalala.
