Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hanigel, President of Suez University, announced a new academic achievement added to the university’s record, as it has entered the advanced tiers of the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings for 2026.
He explained that the university made a qualitative leap compared to last year; in the 2026 edition—which includes 268 institutions from 18 countries—it advanced to the 101–125 band. Suez University ranked 21st in Egypt among the 51 Egyptian universities included in the rankings. In contrast, in the 2025 edition, it had been placed in the 161–180 band among 238 educational institutions across 16 countries.
The University President stated that this achievement reflects the major efforts exerted by the university in developing the educational process and scientific research, expanding international cooperation, and strengthening its societal role. He added:
“Our entry into this advanced ranking is a clear message that Suez University is moving steadily toward regional and international leadership. We reaffirm our continued support for faculty members, researchers, and students to achieve further success.”
In this context, Hanigel extended his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Sherif Fahmy, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and to the team of the University’s International Ranking Unit, led by Prof. Dr. Adel Amer, praising their sincere efforts in supporting the university’s path toward academic and research excellence.
It is noteworthy that the Times Higher Education Arab University Rankings provide a comprehensive framework for evaluating universities in the region based on five main pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality and impact, international outlook, and industry collaboration. The ranking relies on precise quantitative and qualitative indicators, including academic reputation, research output, citations, industrial income, patents, and the proportions of international students and faculty, as well as international research collaboration.
The methodology is based on published research data in addition to a global academic reputation survey, making the results an expression of the ability of Arab universities to provide high-quality education, produce rigorous research with global impact, and enhance international and industrial partnerships that contribute to national and regional development.
