Opening of the second annual conference of the Faculty of Medicine SU President: The faculty was born a giant with all the material and human possibilities

This morning, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Sharkawi, the SU President, Prof. Dr. Said Abadi, the SU Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, opened the second annual conference of the Faculty of Medicine. The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussain Atta, the SU Vice-President for Education and Students Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Tahan, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Abbas Arabi, the Head of the conference.

Moreover, the conference focuses on diabetes and related diseases and its impact on the body's organs, with the presence of a constellation of doctors specializing in sugar, endocrinology, and other medical disciplines.

In his speech, the president pointed out that the SU Faculty of Medicine was born a giant, since its opening years ago and has had all the material and human possibilities to ensure its success to achieve added value in the medical sector in Suez.

Furthermore, he added that the faculty provides staff members with teaching experts in the medical field and professors specializing in various medical sciences as well as the associated staff.

“Al-Sharkawi” stressed that scientific conferences help to exchange insights among professors from different scientific schools; This contributes to the upgrading of students and the graduation of youth - capable of providing medical service and diagnosing patients in the best way. Also, he pointed out that the goal of establishing the Medical School is to improve and upgrade the level of medical service in Suez because the governorate lacked good care and health support during the establishment of the faculty.

The president thanked all the conference guests from various Egyptian universities, doctors from the Ministry of Health, and the Medical Syndicate.

Conference events began with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Wajdi Talaat, Head of the Department of Medical Education of Suez Canal University; He spoke about teaching in the system of 5 + 2, and that the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Suez Canal was the first to appear applied in Egyptian universities, under which years of study in the Faculty of Medicine became 5 years of study in the system of hours or points, for a bachelor's degree, followed by two years of compulsory training.

He reviewed several examples and models of the system by creating greater communication between the medical school and the professor, facilitating his direct learning through practical training, and dealing with cases directly, giving the student the ability to deal with critical situations and emergencies, and diagnose patients.
