Sun. 02 Nov, 2025

As part of the activities marking Pink October, Suez University organized an extensive campaign to raise awareness and promote early detection of breast cancer. The campaign was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Doaa Sayed Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Asser Salam, Executive Director of the University Hospital, in cooperation with Dr. Ahmed Shafiq, General Director of the Suez branch of the Healthcare Authority.
The campaign ran from September 28 to October 8, targeting women visiting the outpatient clinics of the Faculty of Medicine Hospital at Suez University, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support the presidential initiatives for women’s health.
The campaign witnessed active participation from the Healthcare Authority teams, who provided primary screening services along with a mobile unit offering advanced imaging (ultrasound and mammogram), coordinated by Dr. Hatem Amin, Executive Director of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health Support.
The campaign yielded the following results:
Conducting 273 initial screenings and surveys for early tumor detection.
Performing 72 mammograms and 33 breast ultrasounds.
Referring 7 cases for biopsy and histological examination to complete the diagnosis.
Providing health education and awareness services to attendees.
Screening 25 cases for chronic diseases and referring 5 cases to the Maternal and Fetal Health Initiative through the primary healthcare team of the Healthcare Authority.
In continuation of the university’s efforts to support women’s health, the Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Healthcare Authority, organized an awareness seminar on Monday, October 27, focusing on the importance of early breast cancer detection, prevention methods, and the latest treatment approaches. The seminar featured a distinguished group of physicians and specialists and witnessed wide participation from students and community members.
In this context, the President of Suez University stated that the university’s participation in Pink October reflects its social and educational role in supporting women’s health, emphasizing the importance of promoting awareness about early detection of breast cancer.
He added that this campaign aligns with the presidential initiatives forming an integrated healthcare system—not limited to women’s health, but also encompassing initiatives such as “100 Million Healthy Lives” and “Maternal and Fetal Health”, among others—aimed at improving the quality of healthcare for all citizens.
Prof. Dr. Heniegal praised the fruitful cooperation with the Healthcare Authority and the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health Support, commending the efforts of the medical and administrative teams that contributed to the campaign’s success. He expressed the university’s aspiration to hold more activities that enhance health awareness and serve the people of Suez Governorate.
