Launch of the First Student Conference on Scientific Research at the SU Faculty of Medicine

This morning, under the auspices and presence of Prof. Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Sharkawi, the SU President, First Student Conference on Scientific Research at the SU Faculty of Medicine was opened. The conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussain Atta, the SU Vice-President for Education and Students Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Atti Lashin, the SU Vice-President for Post-graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Dr. Said Abadi, the SU Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Tahan, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, staff, associated staff, and the students of the faculty, in addition to the participation of students from Suez Canal and Port Said Universities.

In his speech, Sharqawi praised the idea of the conference, which is an excellent step that drives students to conduct research work in an orderly manner from the beginning of their academic life, explaining that the university seeks to disseminate this thought and encourages it among various faculties to achieve the goal of scientific research, which is one of the objectives of the strategic plan "Egypt Vision 2030". Moreover, the Egyptian State takes knowledge, innovation, and scientific research as fundamental pillars of development by investing in people, building their creative capacities, stimulating innovation, spreading its culture, supporting scientific research, and linking it to education and development.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Said Abadi, the SU Vice-President, pointed out that the Preparation trip for the conference was not a birth today but it was months ago, and students are equipped to participate in such an event, especially fifth year students, which is considered to have completed clinical education and has the ability to handle and present clinical subjects.

In his speech, Al-Tahan welcomed the attendance, especially the guests of the conference from other universities, explaining that these events earn students’ great confidence in their selves when the student can present his research idea to his professors and colleagues listening to their constructive comments, which will no doubt increase their expertise in the research field, especially after graduation.

Students then presented their thoughts and student research through Posters and three of these research projects were selected for presentation at the second faculty conference. These events are going to begin next Thursday, Inshallah.
