Symposium entitled "National Strategy for Science and Technology to Operationalize Egypt Vision 2030" at the Faculty of engineering

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Sharkawi, the SU President, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Henijal, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the SU Faculty of Engineering organized today a seminar entitled "National Strategy for Science and Technology to Operationalize Egypt Vision 2030". This is conducted in cooperation with the Nile Media Centre in Suez.

The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Henijal, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, explained that Egypt's Vision 2030 is a national agenda launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the President of the Republic, to achieve equal rights, opportunities and resources in all geographical regions. Egypt takes knowledge, innovation, and scientific research as key pillars of development through investment in human beings, building their creative capacities, stimulating innovation and disseminating its culture. Moreover, it was launched in February 2016 to reflect the country's long-term strategic plan to achieve the principles and objectives of sustainable development in all fields and to localize it with various Egyptian state organs. As well, Dr. Ashraf added that Egypt's Vision 2030 is based on the principles of comprehensive sustainable development.

Furthermore, Henijal also noted that the SU Faculty of Engineering has a strong and effective role in the community service of Suez Governorate and South Sinai, which includes providing advisory services, reviewing the new building licensing system, contributing to the receipt of road networks and conducting on-site tests as well as addressing challenges and cosmic changes and keeping up with technology in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.

In addition, the seminar was lectured by Dr. Arabi Ibrahim on the governing values of the National Strategy for Science and Technology on transparency, scientific honesty, honest, clear and sincere handling of all matters related to the process of scientific research, observance of copyright, intellectual property and ethical values of scientific research, as well as academic freedom and preservation of the autonomy of universities to make their decisions. With regard to the scientific research system, the strategy aims to develop an effective scientific base and knowledge-producing technology capable of innovating internationally and driving the national economy's sustained progress towards sustainable development.

Ibrahim also referred to the governing values of national strategy: collective action, creativity, integration, uniqueness, and sustainability. The executive authorities' achievements in the strategy are the Alliance of Electronics, the smart meter system, the system of securing museums and solar transformers, the development of thermal power transformers, the support of innovation and scientific research in the industry, the deepening of local manufacturing, as well as the national alliance of knowledge and technology in the field of recyclability and decomposition of petrochemical waste, textile, water, energy, agriculture and food.

At the end of the seminar, Magda Ashmawi, the Director of the Nile Media Center, stressed that the SU Faculty of Engineering seeks to provide high quality education and create knowledge to contribute to the development of society and prepare highly competent and skilled cadres capable of competing locally, regionally and internationally.
