The SU President inaugurates the student conference of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts

This morning, under the theme of “Social Problems in Suez Governorate: Vision and Perceptions of the New Republic”, Prof. Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Sharkawi, the SU President, inaugurated the student conference of the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts. This conference was organized by Prof. Dr. Ali Hussain Atta, the SU Vice-President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdel Atti Lashin, the SU Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Said Hamed Abadi, the SU Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development Affairs. 

Furthermore, the conference was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mazen, the Dean of the faculty and director of the conference, Dr. Hany Bahaa El Din, the Undersecretary of the faculty and Secretary of the conference, Dr. Jabrallah Abbas Hassan, the Rapporteur of the Conference, and with the participation of sociology professors from several Egyptian universities.

Moreover, the SU President took a tour through the posters and graduation projects presented by students at the bachelor's degree and postgraduate levels and heard an explanation of the students' vision and their professors to address the various societal problems experienced by society.

In his speech, Al-Sharkawi welcomed attendance from various universities. He also explained that he was keen to provide all possibilities to encourage research thinking among all the University's staff in various disciplines; One of the priorities of the university vision. This is based on the themes of the Egyptian State's Strategic Plan, "Egypt Vision 2030", which seeks to activate mechanisms to support knowledge and innovation through scientific research; In view of Egypt's taking of knowledge, innovation and scientific research as fundamental pillars of development through investment in human beings, building their creative capacities, stimulating innovation, spreading its culture, supporting scientific research and linking it to education and development.

The Dean of the Faculty also noted that this conference is the first of its kind in the Faculty of Arts, and it will be organized in the future inshallah at the level of all departments and various specializations in the Faculty, so that everyone offers various insights and opinions that undoubtedly contribute to building the minds of youth.

The conference lasts throughout the day, holding several sessions and lectures with the participation of a constellation of sociology professors from Suez University and various Egyptian universities. Graduation projects are also discussed for students of the final years of the department.
