Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, announced that the university will organize its Third Science Day celebration, under his patronage, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the scientific research system and honoring its distinguished scholars.
The President emphasized that this celebration aligns with the interest of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in scientific research as a cornerstone of national progress. He stressed that Suez University adopts this approach out of its firm belief in the role of knowledge and innovation in shaping the future.
Dr. Heniegal explained that the event represents a concrete embodiment of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, currently implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, aimed at enhancing educational quality and increasing outstanding scientific output.
The University President also highlighted that Suez University has witnessed significant advancement in recent years in both local and international rankings, thanks to dedicated efforts in supporting academic publishing and creating an environment that stimulates research.
He further noted that the year 2025 marked tangible achievements, including an increase in the number of peer-reviewed scientific journals at the university to 11 journals, representing a 57% increase compared to the previous year. Eight of these journals have been added to the Egyptian Knowledge Bank’s classifications with distinguished ratings, and four have entered prestigious international indices such as DOAJ and Arcif, reflecting a qualitative leap in the university's knowledge production.
The university is also organizing several events and competitions to foster innovation among faculty members and researchers, and to entrench a culture of academic excellence by enhancing the quality of globally published research.
Science Day is an occasion on which the university expresses its deep gratitude for the ongoing efforts and creativity of its affiliates, which have become a genuine pillar of institutional and scientific advancement.
The celebration will be held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sherif Fahmy, Acting Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, who will deliver a presentation during the event. It is scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Suez University Theater.
