This morning, a PhD dissertation defense was held for the candidate Marwan Ashraf Mohamed Ali, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Technology and Education.
The dissertation is titled:
"Flexural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened Using Various Techniques and Sustainable Materials."
The examination and evaluation committee was composed of the following esteemed members:

The defense was attended by Prof. Dr. Sherif Fahmy, Acting Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Atiya, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Education, Prof. Dr. Essam Ahmed Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, along with a host of faculty members and the candidate’s family.
It is worth noting that the dissertation integrates practical application, theoretical analysis, and economic study. The research presented new scientific findings in the field of strengthening concrete beams, particularly through the use of sustainable, environmentally friendly materials. It introduced a newly developed material known as geopolymer paste, which was utilized both as an adhesive in strengthening processes and as a hardening component in the production of natural and synthetic fiber bars.
Following the public defense, the committee unanimously decided that the candidate deserves to be awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Education, specializing in Civil and Architectural Construction.
