On its 41st anniversary:

- Unprecedented support from political leadership for higher education projects in Sinai

- 37 higher education projects in Sinai at a total cost of 13.4 billion pounds

- The establishment of King Salman International University with its three branches at a cost of 10.5 billion pounds

- Implementation of development projects at Al-Arish University at a cost of 1.7 billion pounds

- Establishment of a branch of Suez University in Abordis, South Sinai at a cost of 1.3 billion pounds for the first phase

- A prominent community role for universities in community participation in North and South Sinai

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said that there are many national projects for higher education that have been implemented in Sinai to complete comprehensive development. He noted the political leadership's interest in implementing various national projects in Sinai in various sectors, notably higher education.

Moreover, The Minister noted that the state has implemented 37 projects in the field of higher education in Sinai over the past eight years, at a total cost of 13.4 billion pounds, stressing that Sinai's development efforts emphasize placing Sinai at the forefront of the comprehensive and sustainable development map in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030.

Furthermore, Dr. Ashraf Hussein, President of King Salman International University, clarified that the University has 3 branches in cities (Al-Tur - Ras Sidr - Sharm el-Sheikh). The university is considered one of the largest national projects for higher education in Sinai, at a total cost of 10.5 billion pounds, noting that the University has launched several distinguished academic programs in the fields of human medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, pharmacy, administrative sciences, social sciences, desert agriculture, engineering and computer science, engineering, technological industries, basic sciences, architecture engineering, tourism and hospitality, arts and design, and applied languages.

Thus, He added that the university's headquarters is located in the city of Al-Tur and is based on an area of 200 acres, at a cost of 5.25 billion pounds, and comprises faculties of (engineering, technological industries, medicine, dentistry, nursing, science and computer engineering) while the university branch in Rssidr is based on 75 acres, at a cost of 2.7 billion pounds, and offers programs (basic sciences, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, administrative sciences, desert agriculture, social sciences). Meanwhile, the University's branch in Sharm el-Sheikh is located on 25 acres, at a cost of LE2.7 billion, and includes faculties of (tourism and hospitality, architecture, Alsun, applied languages, arts and design, and media and communication), explaining that the University possesses distinct material and human components, and introduces modern study programs that match the requirements of the local, regional, and international labor market.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hassan Al-Dmerdash, President of Al-Arish University, said that several projects have been implemented to develop and upgrade the University of Al-Arish at a cost of 1.7 billion pounds, explaining that the University has completed the construction of faculties of (arts, commerce, education, home economics, sports education, veterinary medicine, human medicine, and aquaculture and marine fisheries) beside the University Administration Building, University dormitories Administration Building, Medical Clinics, 3 staff member resting buildings, as well as the construction of a housing building for male students and another for female students, a lab building, 650-student terraces, another with 250-students, and a gymnasium while the Faculty of Computing and Information is being developed and upgraded and the Faculty of Agro-Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Education is raised to the industrial building as well as the preparation of a complete road and infrastructure development scheme, the establishment of a desalination plant, the modernization of the University's security and transport systems and the equipping of its buildings with the required tools and equipment.

Then, the University President referred to the 2016 Republican decision to establish Al-Arish University as an independent university, thereby beginning real development on Sinai land, especially in the North Sinai governorate, noting that the University has 11 faculties: Education, Agroecology, Science, Literature, Sports Education, Commerce, Aquaculture and Marine Fisheries, Home Economics, Veterinary Medicine, Human Medicine, Computing and Information, and includes an Environmental Studies Institute (special to postgraduate studies). However, new qualitative faculties in various disciplines are being expanded to 16, with qualitative and research centers; To exploit all of Sinai's wealth and maximize its utilization. Also, Al-Arish University considers the requirements of smart buildings and green buildings in all faculty buildings.

Therefore, Prof. Dr. Al- Dmerdash added that Al-Arish University has farms in the Faculty of Agriculture, including a 40-acre fruit farm. Most of its cultivated area is olive trees, as well as a 5-acre vegetable farm. This area produces 4-6 tons of vegetables per year. The university also has an animal and poultry production farm and animal and poultry production wards on 8 acres.

After that, Prof. Dr. Al-Sharqawi, Suez University President, said that the first branch of a governmental university in South Sinai a branch of Suez University in Abordis at a cost of 1.3 billion pounds for the first phase, is being established. The University branch is located on 100 acres for the two phases. The first phase comprising faculties of (education, arts, science, commerce) while the second phase comprises faculties of (human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, engineering, petroleum engineering, technology, fisheries, languages and translation, desert agriculture and food, design and arts, veterinary medicine, computers, and artificial intelligence) in addition to other buildings (university administrative building, central library, conference hall, student university dormitories, staff member housing buildings, Olympic sports complex, cafeteria, and restaurant), as well as the establishment of a university hospital to serve the Sinai Peninsula people.

In addition, Dr. Adel Abdul Ghaffar, Media Adviser and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said that the State's great interest in the development of the Sinai Peninsula by paying attention to the implementation of many higher education projects on its territory reflects the special status that Sinai has. Besides, to meet the growing demand for university education, provide distinguished educational opportunities for Sinai citizens, respond to the needs of different sectors of society, regarding the required disciplines in the overall development process, and provide jobs.

Later, the spokesperson added that Al-Arish University and King Salman International University have a prominent societal role in cooperation with various relevant State bodies in community participation in North and South Sinai, through participation in various initiatives offered by the State, for the development of Sinai society.
