Under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Tarek Hamed El-Shazly, Governor of Suez, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, the Governorate of Suez organized a major educational seminar for pre-university students in the governorate. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Ramadan, Deputy Governor; Vice Presidents of Suez University; members of the House of Representatives and the Senate; deans and faculty members of the university; local and executive leaders of the governorate; and students from Suez schools.
The seminar hosted several distinguished speakers: Sheikh Ahmed Tamim Al-Mara’i from Al-Azhar; Dr. Ahmed Haroun, a psychological therapy consultant; and Dr. Ahmed Sayed Abdel-Moneim, professor of sociology at Ain Shams University.
The seminar opened with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a speech from Prof. Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University. He welcomed the attendees, noting that the seminar’s title reflects the highest meanings of affection and mercy that should prevail among members of society—especially within the Egyptian family, the cornerstone of societal cohesion.
The university president took the opportunity to extend congratulations to all on the occasion of Sinai Liberation Day, a day that marks the recovery of the precious land of Sinai—a land not merely defined by geography, but a symbol of resilience and pride. It is a land where stories of heroism and sacrifice by the great Egyptian army were written, forming a lasting legacy in the hearts of all Egyptians.
He also extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for his ongoing efforts in development and reconstruction in Sinai and for protecting its identity against any attempts to alter it or use it as an alternative for the displacement of Palestinians. He reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause.
Heniegal affirmed full confidence in all the procedures and measures undertaken by the Egyptian state on this issue, which reflect Egypt’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and to safeguarding national security, while ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people in their land.
He expressed his deep appreciation to the Egyptian Armed Forces, the nation's shield and sword, who have given their all over decades to safeguard the land of Sinai as an integral part of our beloved homeland.
He also pointed to Egypt’s celebration of Labor Day, an occasion that reaffirms the importance of the hands of Egyptian workers in building and advancing the nation. This year’s celebration, held in Suez, highlighted the city's vital role in supporting the national economy, as emphasized by President El-Sisi’s selection of this valiant city as the site of the event—a historic tribute to its people’s contributions to development and progress, and a springboard toward a brighter economic future.
On the occasion of this seminar, the university president praised the pivotal role played by the Governorate of Suez, under the leadership of His Excellency Major General Tarek Hamed El-Shazly, in promoting public awareness through educational seminars that aim to raise understanding of vital issues affecting citizens’ lives.
He stressed that focusing on pre-university youth is a critical step in building a conscious generation capable of critical thinking, national identity, and sound societal values. These elements help youth make more informed decisions in the future.
"The family," he said, "is not merely a social unit, but the nucleus of civilizational development. It is within the family that personalities are formed, values are planted, and generations are launched toward a more cohesive and stable future. Instilling these values in the minds of young people at the pre-university stage is a cornerstone in preparing a generation that understands its responsibilities toward family and society. Youth must understand that forming a family is not just about rights and duties, but about deep human foundations of understanding, respect, and compassion. Proper upbringing helps individuals manage their family relationships wisely, avoiding conflicts and breakdowns that threaten social stability. This is one of the key goals of today’s seminar."
Heniegal explained the Egyptian state’s role in supporting such values by issuing legislation that ensures family members’ rights and organizing awareness seminars to promote dialogue and mutual respect between spouses. The state also places special emphasis on empowering women and securing their rights within the family, helping to achieve the needed balance in family relations and contributing to the creation of a more stable society.
Following his speech, students from the Hotel and Tourism School presented a theatrical performance titled “A Cohesive Family, A Safe Society.”
The seminar speakers—Sheikh Al-Mara’i, Dr. Haroun, and Dr. Abdel-Moneim—then engaged in a panel discussion on selecting a life partner, proper child-rearing, and the family’s role in promoting societal safety. The session included questions and answers moderated by the panelists.
A young girl, Ruqayya Mohamed from Al-Jihad School, then presented a musical performance that was well-received and warmly applauded by the audience.
Finally, His Excellency Major General Tarek El-Shazly, Governor of Suez, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of carefully choosing a life partner to ensure a better future for children, stating that the foundation of a sound society is a sound family.
He extended his thanks to all those involved in organizing the seminar, especially the President of Suez University for hosting the event, and praised the efforts of the Deputy Governor and all contributors, particularly the seminar’s guest speakers.
El-Shazly concluded by telling the attending students that the seminar was not meant for them alone, but that each attendee should share what they learned with others so that the benefits can reach the wider community. He wished everyone success, progress, and prosperity.
