Minister of Higher Education confirms: 

- Private universities are a key pillar in achieving the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030. 

- Private universities offer various interactive interdisciplinary educational programs that meet the needs of the evolving labor market. 

- Private universities contribute to expanding the prospects for higher education and accommodating larger numbers of students. 

- Private universities provide the necessary infrastructure for conducting applied scientific research. 

- The importance of complementarity between various institutions of higher education and international partnerships. 

-The Minister of Higher Education commends the support of the political leadership of private universities. 

 

 

 

The Meeting tackled: 

-Development of academic and administrative performance and scientific research in private universities. 

- Discussion of the standard internal regulation governing the operation of Private Universities emanating from Government Universities. 

-Private universities' preparations for the new academic year. 

 

Prof. Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a meeting with the presidents of private universities emanating from public universities to explore ways to develop the academic and administrative performance of private universities by discussing the standard internal regulation governing the operation of Private Universities emanating from government universities and preparing for the new university year, in the presence of Dr. Maher Misbah, Secretary of the Council of Private Universities, at the Private Education Building in New Cairo. 

 

The Minister emphasized that private universities are a key pillar in achieving the National Plan for Higher Education and Scientific Research 2030, through the provision of various educational programs and various intercultural disciplines of high quality that meet the evolving needs of the labor market. He explained that these universities are building a creative environment, providing the necessary infrastructure for applied scientific research that contributes to the achievement of economic and social development goals. They also contribute to expanding the prospects of higher education, research, and innovation, accommodating increasing numbers of students, while ensuring that qualified graduates are qualified to compete in the labor market locally, regionally, and globally, and meet the requirements of sustainable development. 

The Minister commended the great support given by the political leadership to the private universities, stressing the importance of integrating the various Egyptian institutions of higher education and expanding international partnerships to strengthen the capacity of private universities to provide high-quality educational and research services that contribute to sustainable development. He also stressed the need to take advantage of the expertise and competencies available in private universities emanating from government universities to advance development in various fields. In addition, he stated the importance of continuing work to achieve the strategic objectives of higher education by providing a stimulating environment for creativity and innovation and fostering cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors, thereby contributing to the solution of society's challenges. 

Moreover, Dr. Ayman Ashour also stressed the importance of building strong partnerships between private universities emanating from government universities and civil society to take advantage of the potential of private universities to serve the community. 

Furthermore, Dr. Ayman Ashour appreciated the great success achieved by the new private universities emanating from the public universities, praising the increasing demand of students for enrolment, and directed the need to complete all preparations for the start of the new academic year. 

During the meeting, Dr. Atef Omar, the Minister's Adviser for Legal Affairs, detailed the work of the committee formed to prepare the standard internal regulation governing the operation of Private Universities emanating from government universities. This Regulation, consisting of 7 chapters, 30 titles, comprising 212 subjects, dealt with the procedures governing the selection of members of the Board of Trustees, Presidents, and Vice Presidents, as well as the composition of their council members, and the mechanisms for students' admission. 

For his part, the Minister thanked and appreciated all those who contributed to the preparation of the new standard internal regulation governing the operation of Private Universities emanating from government universities. He stressed that the launching of this new regulation will contribute to the development of the institutional performance of these universities, Strengthening their competitiveness at the regional and international levels, noting that the purpose of the regulation is to establish general frameworks for the operation of these universities, Ensuring competitiveness among them, encouraging them to provide innovative academic programs that meet the needs of the labor market, and providing a stimulating environment for creativity and innovation. 

The meeting was attended by acting presidents of private universities, seven presidents of public universities in the process of establishing private universities, Dr. Mustafa Rifat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Ayman Farid Assistant Minister for Strategic Planning, Training, and Qualification for the Labour Market, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sharqawi Assistant Minister for Policy and Economic Affairs, Dr. Atef Omar, Minister's Counsel for Legal Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Ghanem, Head of the Central Administration for the Minister's Office Affairs.
