Under the patronage of Prof. Ashraf Henigel, President of the University, and following the directives of Prof. Ezz El-Din Hosseini Gad, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Faculty of Fisheries organized an awareness seminar titled:
"Safe Use of Digital Platforms in Light of Laws Regulating the Combat Against Cybercrimes."
The seminar was organized by the Faculty’s Vice-Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in collaboration with the "Students for Egypt" student group—led by Dr. Ahmed Mohamed El-Desouky, the group’s university-level advisor—and coordinated by Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ragab, the Faculty’s Student Activities Coordinator and coordinator for "Students for Egypt." The seminar was presented by Dr. Sabry Khaled Abdel-Hady, Assistant Professor of Public Relations and Advertising and Head of the Marketing Communications Department at the Faculty of Media and Communication Technology.
The seminar opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty, who emphasized the importance of addressing negative phenomena and highlighted the role of such seminars in fostering awareness. Dr. Sabry Khaled began the session by asking the students: "How many of you have used your mobile phones today to post content, share something, or leave a comment?"
The seminar then addressed the following key topic:
The Legal Framework: Protecting digital usage and combating cybercrimes under the Anti-Cyber and Information Technology Crimes Law (Law No. 175 of 2018). Rights and Offenses: Protecting privacy and the right to report incidents; criminalizing extortion, hacking, financial fraud, and identity theft.
Prevention and Safety: Enabling two-factor authentication, refraining from sharing sensitive data, avoiding suspicious links, and raising awareness among minors.
In closing, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saber, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. El-Azab Tahoun, Vice Dean, expressed their gratitude to Dr. Sabry Khaled Abdel-Hadi for this exceptional awareness-raising lecture and his engaging, insightful presentation. Commemorative photographs were then taken with the students.
