Fourth-year students on the Inland Fisheries Technology program presented their graduation project entitled:

“Population Characteristics of the Striped Piggy, *Pomadasys stridens*, from the Gulf of Suez, Egyptian Red Sea”

It was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Samir Abdel-Nabi and with the assistance of Teaching Assistant/Mariam Maher Abdel-Aal.

The project aims to study the population characteristics of the striped piggy (*Pomadasys stridens*) in the Gulf of Suez by analysing length and age structure, the relationship between length and weight, and growth, mortality and exploitation rates, thereby contributing to the assessment of fish stock status and supporting the sustainable management of fisheries.

The study reached several important findings that contribute to understanding the population dynamics of this species and provide scientific data to support decision-making regarding the management and development of fishery resources in the Gulf of Suez.

*Among the project’s key recommendations are: *

• Continuing programs for the periodic monitoring and tracking of fish stocks.

• Implementing sustainable management measures to curb overfishing.

• Regulating fishing effort to ensure the conservation of fish stocks for future generations.

• Supporting future studies on the biology and stock assessment of economically important species in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Suez.

• Promoting the use of scientific data in the development of fisheries management plans and measures.

Best wishes to the project students for continued success and prosperity.
