The faculty organised an awareness seminar entitled ‘Sixth-Generation Warfare’, which was presented by Dr Lubna Gharib Makrom, Lecturer in Political Science at the Faculty of Politics and Economics, Suez University.
The seminar covered the following topics:
Awareness in the face of non-contact warfare, during which Dr Lubna delivered an in-depth analytical presentation on the nature of modern warfare. The seminar included the following key points:
1. What are sixth-generation wars?
The lecture explained that the world has moved from confrontations to “strategic sabotage”, where technology is used to destabilize states and undermine their decision-making capacity without the need for a traditional battlefield, in what is known as “total war”.
2. Technological infiltration and non-conventional weapons
The modern arsenal of weapons was reviewed, including:
Destruction of infrastructure: targeting the energy and telecommunications sectors to cause societal paralysis.
Geophysical and environmental weapons: weather control (the HAARP project) and the use of lasers to start fires.
Electromagnetic pulses: to disable vital devices and systems.
3. Challenges to Egyptian national security 🇪🇬
The seminar focused on threats that directly affect the Egyptian state, including:
Cyberattacks on critical infrastructure (such as power stations and water networks).
Manipulating the youth’s perceptions through artificial intelligence and misinformation.
Threats to food and water security by targeting supply chains and supporting the construction of dams.
💡 A roadmap for tackling the challenge
The seminar concluded by emphasising that “science is the first line of defence”, through:
Promoting scientific research and developing the education system.
Building a national workforce specialising in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Shaping public awareness to distinguish facts from digital lies.
The seminar concluded by emphasising that the battle for awareness is the most important battle of the modern era, and that the nation’s youth are its protective shield through science and knowledge. The seminar was attended by approximately 63 students, who expressed their delight at this highly significant event in light of current developments
