Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Osama Qaddour, Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Mohamed Mohamed Saeed, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, the fourth scientific discussion seminar for the academic year 2024-2025 was held, moderated by Dr. Reham Hijazi, Coordinator of Scientific Discussion Seminars at the Faculty.
Assistant Lecturer/ Mahmoud Mohamed El-Sakka from the Department of Marine Navigation presented a scientific discussion entitled
Sea Level Analysis for Tidal Datum Realization
This topic is one of the important issues in the field of specialized research in marine navigation, especially considering climate change affecting sea level, which requires the development of accurate and reliable standards for measuring tides.
In his presentation, El-Sakka focused on the importance of this research in improving the understanding of changes in sea levels and accurately determining tidal levels, which contributes to supporting safe navigation efforts, especially in the Red Sea region and the southern entrance to the Suez Canal in the Suez Governorate at Port Tawfik. The scientific seminar also addressed the challenges facing accurate measurement operations and the importance of using modern analysis techniques to obtain reliable results.
The seminar was attended by several professors, researchers, and students interested in the field of marine research, and the discussions witnessed a scientific exchange on the importance of this study and its expected applications in improving navigational safety, especially in Port Tawfik in the Suez Governorate
