Biography: Prof. Elham Ali

  • Professor of Oceanography at the University of Suez, Faculty of Fish resources
  • Environmental consultant at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences – Full assignment for one year
  • Team leader for the environmental studies department at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and SPACE Sciences, leading a team of some young/middle researchers for some national (R&D projects) and international research projects
  • Ex-Head for the Department of Aquatic Environmental sciences and Director for Suez University (2018-2021)
  • International Relations Office (UONIR) – (2018-2021)
  • Founder and ex-director for MISR University for Science Technology (MUST) Centre of Career Development CDC (2012 – 2016)
  • Prof. E. Ali got her MPhil and PhD from Southampton Oceanography Centre (SOC-UK), University of Southampton, UK. After the PhD, she joined the Oceanography Centre (SOC) as a researcher (2004-2006).
  • She is the PI for the “African Centre of Excellence” granted for Suez University from the African Union through a call for African countries through the Commission of Agriculture
  • Prof. Ali worked as environmental consultant for different national (CEDARE, EEAA, Shore protection Institute), regional and international entities (EPA-Kuwait, GCC, GISCON, World Bank, IPCC). Currently, she is working as a part-time consultant at the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) sharing the department of environmental studies in many research and R&D projects
  • She shared the group dedicated by the government to speculate the strategy and policies for the newly established national agency for space (The Egyptian Space Agency – EgSA) and also contributed to the HR internal frame for the agency
  • Prof. Ali is the co-principal investigator and/or a member for several international projects; for instance, the current one is NAfCOAST project which is aiming at monitoring and paining for better management and use of the northern African coast. This project is funded by the EU, AU through the GMES & Africa program. Prof Ali is the thematic expert for the project, the training & capacity building lead as well as the project communication co-lead 
  • A member of the International Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) – since January 2018 – current
  • Lead Author (LA) for the AR6 report of climate change
  • Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the Mediterranean cross-chapter on climate changes
  •  Prof. Ali also got an international degree in training (CT) and human resources development consultations and institutional development (from the IBCT) which strengthen her knowledge and skills of institutional development, especially the educational sector, strategic planning and project management
  • Nominated for deanship – Faculty of fish resources, Suez University
  • Short listed for Counselor position – for the Egyptian Cultural Office in Washington, USA

Elham Ali, beside the pure scientific career, is also caring much about the institutional and human resources development to enhance the performance of university staff and raise the standards.
