The video highlighted the faculty's role in promoting innovation and offering educational programs aligned with the needs of the industrial and technological sectors.
Next, Professor Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Attia, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the university president and all attendees. He emphasized the importance of organizing this conference as the faculty’s first student-led event, describing it as a distinguished scientific platform to showcase the talents of students both from within and outside the university. He noted that the conference is the culmination of dedicated student efforts, supported by the faculty, and serves as a genuine forum for presenting ideas, innovations, and objective discussion of scientific and student-related issues. He underscored the importance of linking education with industry to foster innovation and develop student skills to meet labor market demands.
Engineer Kareem Ismail, Director of Escor Grass Company—the conference’s sponsor—then delivered a speech on industry, highlighting the importance of collaboration between education and industry, and the role of industrial companies in supporting innovation and technological skill development. He stated that Escor Grass supports initiatives that bridge industrial and technological education and believes such events enhance innovation and contribute to sustainable development. He described the conference as a valuable platform connecting young industrial talents with academic knowledge, thereby helping to address market needs and drive industrial progress.
Following this, Professor Dr. Ashraf Heniegal, President of Suez University, delivered his opening address, expressing his great pleasure in being at this prestigious academic institution, which has long been a beacon of knowledge and excellence. He praised the institution’s mission to prepare generations capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements and of making a positive impact through innovation and research.
He affirmed that the faculty plays a vital role through its ambitious vision to become a leading center in applied knowledge, enhancing the integration of technology and education to achieve sustainable development and inspire aspiring minds toward a brighter, more effective future.
Dr. Heniegal emphasized that the Egyptian state places technological education among its top priorities, recognizing its pivotal role in enhancing national competitiveness, driving sustainable development, and integrating innovation with applied knowledge. He referenced President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's strategic vision and continuous directives to develop the technological education system, modernize academic curricula, and incorporate the latest innovations into education in alignment with scientific and industrial advancements to ensure high-quality youth preparation.
He also noted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, has devised a comprehensive strategic plan based on a well-studied scientific approach. This plan focuses on expanding technological universities, strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and production sectors, and integrating theoretical and applied aspects of education. The plan also emphasizes supporting research in technical fields and fostering an innovative and continuously developing educational environment to prepare generations capable of leading development and contributing to modern industries, thereby consolidating Egypt's role as a regional and global hub for science and technology.
The university president reaffirmed that integrating technological education with industry is fundamental to achieving sustainable development and innovation across sectors. Technological education goes beyond theoretical knowledge by enhancing practical skills that prepare students for contemporary labor market challenges. He noted that close collaboration between academic and industrial institutions leads to market-aligned curricula and the qualification of cadres capable of delivering innovative solutions that support economic and industrial growth.
This integration, he said, offers opportunities for practical training, allowing students to apply their learning in real work environments, enhancing their competence and increasing their employability.
Dr. Heniegal explained that student conferences contribute to achieving this vision by providing a platform that unites academic thought with practical application and encourages constructive dialogue between students, faculty, and experts across technological fields. These events allow students to present their ideas and projects to specialists, helping refine their skills and prepare them for future challenges. They also create space for scientific discussion and open channels for cooperation between universities and industrial institutions, directing research toward practical solutions that meet societal and labor market needs.
In conclusion, the university president expressed confidence that the rich discussions, innovative ideas, and constructive engagement at this promising conference would yield not just theoretical insights but practical, implementable recommendations.
He extended his appreciation and gratitude to all participants and organizers, praising their efforts in making this important scientific event a success. He hoped the conference would mark a significant step toward advancing education, supporting research, and contributing meaningfully to progress and sustainable development.
Following his speech, shields of appreciation were presented to the conference sponsors, including Engineer Kareem Ismail, Director of Escor Grass. Professor Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa Attia also presented a commemorative shield to the university president in recognition of his support.
Professor Dr. Ashraf Heniegal then took a group photo with all conference participants in front of the Faculty of Science auditorium, commemorating the occasion and celebrating the faculty’s first student conference.
Afterward, he toured the research posters and outstanding student projects featured in the conference. He expressed his admiration for the scientific and practical quality of the work, reflecting the efforts of students and faculty alike. The exhibits covered a range of fields, including production technology, power mechanics and water desalination, renewable energy, electrical machines and electronics, civil and architectural construction, and smart textiles. Students presented innovative solutions to real industrial and societal issues, showcasing the faculty’s success in aligning technological education with industry and steering student research toward sustainable development goals.
The conference continued with a series of key seminars aimed at raising student awareness about industry and labor market issues. Engineer Kareem Ismail opened the seminar series with a lecture on the realities of industry and labor market needs, stressing the importance of technological disciplines in supporting the national economy. This was followed by Dr. Tarek El-Sayed’s session on Youth and Sustainable Development: Visions and Ideas for a Better Tomorrow, and concluded with a lecture by Professor Dr. Gamal Bedeir on Prospects of New and Renewable Energy and Its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development.
The conference closed with the distribution of awards to winners of the best research posters and student projects, in a spirit of positive competition that reflected creativity and collaboration.
