Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hnijal, SU President, and within the framework of the student activities plan implemented by the Faculty to raise political awareness among university students, the Faculty of Politics and Economics at Suez University organized a seminar entitled ‘Awareness of Threats to National Security: Destructive Ideology, Terrorism, and External Threats’ on Monday, 6 October 2025, at the faculty headquarters, in cooperation with the Nile Media Centre in Suez, part of the State Information Service.
The seminar was presented by Prof. Dr. Nepal Ezz El-Din, Dean of the Faculty. She began the seminar by celebrating the Immortal memory of the glorious October War victories, which represented a turning point in the history of the nation, in which the Egyptian Armed Forces embodied the highest meanings of sacrifice and redemption, and through which they restored national dignity and military pride.
The Dean then highlighted the most prominent challenges facing Egyptian national security at present, foremost among which are terrorism, subversive ideas, and external threats, emphasising that these dangers aim to destabilise the nation.
She also stressed the importance of student awareness and its role in countering these threats by adhering to national identity and rallying behind state institutions, noting that protecting national security is not limited to the army and police, but is a collective responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all segments of society.
The seminar concluded with a call to strengthen the spirit of belonging, to ensure that information is obtained from reliable sources, and to activate the role of young people as the first line of defence against attempts to undermine national consciousness.
The seminar was attended and enriched by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Safi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and M. Magda Ashmawi, Director of the Nile Media Centre in Suez.
