In real time communications and multimedia transmission, encryption has become an important field of research. Extensive studies have been done to get robust encryption techniques. Due to the importance of image information, optical encryption has played a vital rule in information security. Many optical encryption schemes have been proposed but most of them suffer from poor robustness against composite attacks. Besides that, most optical encryption algorithms have deal with grayscale images and few of them have been used for securing color images. In this paper we will introduce a new robust optical encryption algorithm for individual attacks as well as composite attacks; a very dangerous case of attacks. After extensive comparative studies with traditional algorithms, it could be found that the proposed algorithm has achieved the best performance against severe composite attacks.
