SU objectives

The program of the SU Faculty of Dentistry (bachelor’s degree) aims to prepare dentists who are capable of:

Acquiring knowledge and skills to provide health care to all the social classes.

Diagnose, treat, and have the prevention skills for oral and dental diseases.

Maintaining occupational safety levels and methods of infection control.

Communicate with patients and their families to follow up on different disease cases and recovery rates.

Recognize the limits of their knowledge and medical abilities in the field of oral and dental health and the importance of medical consultations for specialists if necessary.

Maintaining professional standards and enduring pursuit of professional learning and access to the latest knowledge in oral and dental health.

Acquire skills to follow up on scientific research and obtain more postgraduate studies in various fields of dentistry and benefit from them to develop patients' advanced therapeutic level.

Learn the concepts and skills that qualify the dentistry students like:

Knowledge of various concepts related to basic science.

Identification of the characteristics of dental materials, their applications, and ways of maximizing those characteristics.

Study the anatomical and functional description of the dental substrates in general and the maxillofacial, and dental and oral cavity in particular.

Linking pathological, epidemiological, genetic, and immunological cases of oral diseases with general diseases and methods of prevention and treatment.

Study the general rules of infection control and sterilization of tools, clinics, and laboratories to provide safety for patients and preserve the environment.

Gaining the ability to cope with emergencies related to the provision of dental services to the individual and the community.

Treatment of potential complications related to local dental anesthesia and methods of treatment and prevention.

Provide oral and dental care for people with special needs and identify the social and psychological backgrounds of these patients.

Provide a distinguished level of treatment and prevention of oral and dental diseases for children and the elderly.

Identification of evidence-based dental principles and their relationship to scientific research.

Study the medical and legal principles relating to the practice of the dentistry profession and know the rights and duties of the dentist and patient.

Study the basic principles of dentistry practice, quality management, and organizational arrangements to provide oral and dental health care.

Use IT as a means of communication and analysis of all data to access the best treatment plans to serve patients.

Improve the dentists' technical level by attending scientific conferences, workshops, postgraduate studies, and research.
